Presently, Chronic Disease affects at-least half of the population.  6 in 10 Americans live with chronic disease, navigating significant health, care and Quality-of-Life burdens.  Recent assessments estimate Health spending increases to upwards of $4.9 trillion (est. ‘$14.5k per capita’).

Patient Safety studies found that 10% to 25% of care encounters involve Adverse Event’s resulting from Medical Treatment.

Additionally, utilizing a large national database of closed malpractice claims to estimate frequency and severity of Diagnostic Errors; ‘missed or delayed diagnoses were found to account for 21% of 55,377 claims, with the majority resulting in permanent disability or death’.

Reasoned causes often attributable to caseloads, constraining providers ability to explore all investigative options or solicit knowledgeable consultation in a timely manner. 

Referrals or Consultation Requests present more potential knowledge-sharing failure points.  ‘Missed opportunities for correct or timely diagnosis based on available evidence’, it’s these errors which present undue burden and potential harm to patients.  Evidenced in Malpractice Payments Totaling $2,319,378,937.
